M: Monitor the tone and mannerisms of the prospect
P: Probe for information gently and with respect
H: Help your clients feel safe in the conversation
S: Summarize"

This is a list that would look nice on a 3x5 card sitting  on your desk.  It spells out in simple words and actions you need to do to win the sale over your competition.

The real challenge is to make good communication a handy and well-used tool. Then you are likely to pick it up and use it without thinking.
