A Business Coach is not a "nag"
The art of "Business Coaching" is a relatively new profession, at least as I define it. Many people envision a coach as someone who constantly pushes you to do better, most often associated with sports. Many memories of typical coaches are not always pleasant.
The Business Coaching Process is about discovery. It requires recognition of the attributes that a business owner brings to the process. Just as the planning process I developed is value based, Business Coaching is also built upon the foundation of the core values and goals that a client has.
Story telling is important; each business owner has a life and business story to share. Listening and understanding is the responsibility of the coach. The coaching process requires a strong relationship to be built with the Principal of Confidentiality at its center.
I cannot nor do I have a "format" for the coaching process. Each person is an individual and each individual needs a different approach to fulfilling their dreams. While accountability is important to achieving success, the accountability factor has to be designed using the owners vision and strengths.
Coaching is also a learning process. A coach learns about and recognizes the talents that the owner possesses and then works to direct those talents. Coaching can also be combined with the consulting and planning process, but in all cases, the strength of the trust relationship between owner and coach is the main building block.
