A terrible addiction.....
While working with a business developing a Strategic Focus Plan, often times I come across a terrible addiction that the owner has. The addiction is refusing to let go of the past. We are creatures of habit and we are comfortable with our past routines. When we speak of the "past" we breathe life into the past and we once again become emotionally involved with those thoughts.
While I feel it is important to find out how you got to this point in your career, it should be shared for informational purposes only and then it needs to be forgotten. Talking about all your great past accomplishments does nothing to build future achievements.
Letting go of your past is the key to unlocking your future and your greatest potential.
The future of a business is always ahead; it is what you do tomorrow to make a difference that counts. Looking upon past failures causes one to worry and then the negative thoughts start creeping in.
As simple as this message is, it is one of the most important ones to adopt.
